Build A Nest

Artisans_India

Ikat Weaving Artisans In India, Nest partnerships are initiatives that help women artisans in the Majority World to gain a self-sufficient and sustainable income through training programs. While Nest is a non-profit organization, they partner with fashion labels with an innovative social lean including:  Maiyet, Trina Turk, Timberland, Lord & Taylor, American Eagle, Kate Spade, Tory Burch & Barney’s New York. Supporting ethical sourcing allows designers and companies to act as collaborators with artisans rather than simply consumers or importers. By knowing where a product comes from and supporting those who create it, the arts act as an avenue to reduce poverty. Fashion with a conscience building artisan businesses. Beautiful.

Donate a Website or Loom -$250 buys a website for an artisan business, and $1000 buys a loom for Nest’s new silk weaving facility in Varansai, India. Visit Nest to see about these & more ways you can participate. ‘Tis the Season of Giving (Back).

About

Nest is a nonprofit dedicated to identifying and collaborating with responsible artisan businesses through the provision of customized capacity building programs to enable each enterprise to become profitable and have a significant positive social impact. They have searched globally to identify a network of existing artisanal workshops that have strong leadership, are scalable, and can transform their communities in one of three ways: alleviate poverty, empower women, and promote peace. Through a participatory model, they work with the artisans to provide the services they need to both preserve and enhance artistic traditions and increase their ability to meet the capacity and quality demands of the exporting marketplace.
