Relativitimepieces by designer Mieke Meijer. A series of conceptual, low-tech objects made of medievial oak wood, resembling pre-industrial revolution engineering, made to measure time. Originally designed for the exhibition ‘Matter of time’ by the collective Dutch Invertuals, Mieke designed 3 timepieces to represent time through the evolution of mass, volume and temperature in each piece.
Exploring the opposite direction to the complex beauty of the Swiss Horlogerie, Mieke decided to look back at the most antique and primitive forms of representation of time, when each second that passed had a visual and almost palpable reality. Artfully obsolete yet contemporary interpretation of time.
